STRENGTHENING TECHNOLOGY OFFERING FOR RAIL, ROADS AND MINING
Sydney, Australia (12 April 2021) – Willow, the leading provider of digital twin solutions for modern, efficient smart infrastructure and real estate, is strengthening its technology offering, announcing the appointment of Ben Baker to Vice President of Product.
In this newly created role, Ben will lead the product organisation for Willow’s Infrastructure sector, applying his experience in infrastructure and transit to the WillowRail product and development of the product offerings for other industry verticals including Mining and Roads.
Prior to Willow, Ben spent seven years with Weir, a 150 year old Scottish engineering business primarily engaged in the mining industry. In his time at Weir Ben supported establishment of the organisation’s digital strategy and led the development of the IoT platform (sensor to cloud) along with additional capabilities around data analytics and customer experience.
Commenting on why he joined Willow, Ben said “I was attracted to Willow’s ability to move fast, have a significant impact across a range of industries, and the culture of the company. I believe it’s great teams that achieve great things, not individuals. Working together, leveraging each other’s strengths and different experiences is what will enable industry transformation”
Gerard Francis, Global Head of Infrastructure & CEO of WillowRail. “Ben brings a huge depth of technology experience as well as pedigree in the mining industry to our Infrastructure team. Our objective is to make Willow’s digital twin platform scalable to any asset class or type, and subject matter experts such as Ben are essential to this journey”
Over the coming months, Ben will lead the future development of Willow’s infrastructure offering WillowRail, which currently services a number of major owners and maintenance groups globally. Demand for this technology is being driven within the Australian, European and North American markets by major investments infrastructure projects and improvements on existing rail networks across the region’s transportation system. This year, Accenture positioned digital twins as one of the top 5 strategic technology trends to watch, as businesses are now beginning to realise the potential of this technology when applied at scale.
