Hey there EJ, tell us a little about your role at Willow.
Within the product strategy team, I focus on strategy framework development, prioritisation structures, market insights, and competitive analysis. I get to work closely with product, engineering, and engagements across all verticals to align our strategies with our teams and business goals.
What were you doing before Willow?
Before Willow, I worked as an energy transition researcher at BloombergNEF, reporting on U.S. oil supply. We performed discovery analysis on the global transition to net zero emissions across all sectors of energy consumption, publishing enterprise data, models, and written research. I covered petrochemicals, emissions, trade flows and corporate strategy for oil and gas companies across the globe.
Prior to Bloomberg, I studied Data Science and Environmental Economics & Policy at UC Berkeley. The data science coursework combined statistical inference with computer science and programming to create a holistic method of analysis for data-driven research. I was then able to incorporate my interest in sustainability through econometric analysis and the study of energy resource management. The crossover of the two concentrations led me to BloombergNEF and now, Willow.
What led you to Willow?
I had a colleague who was doing discovery work around digital twins and was immediately drawn to the power of the technology and the market need for the product. WillowTwin™ has many applications – both realistic and futuristic – that can change the way we view our built world. One of those applications, of which I am extremely passionate about, is sustainability and energy resource management.
What do you love most about working at Willow? What has your experience been with our company culture?
The people and the passion. Not only are my colleagues incredibly kind, empathetic, curious and bright, but they lift each other up to give power to our purpose and drive towards our common goal. They move swiftly because our goals demand it, yet no person is left behind on the mission.
What do you find most exciting about working in tech?
Technology enables you to make large-scale, momentous changes in the way society functions and interacts. Technology is translatable, widely adoptable, and feels limitless in its potential to influence.
At Willow, I feel like we truly have the power to change the world across many assets, systems, and verticals of business.
The industry is both exceptionally rewarding and fiercely demanding. It forces you to remain out of your comfort zone, seek challenge, and strive to achieve the highest quality product. At Willow, I feel like we truly have the power to change the world across many assets, systems, and verticals of business.
What projects are you currently working on?
I am currently working on building our framework for feature development prioritisation and creating a structure to support feedback loops throughout the verticals of our business.
